Privacy Policy and End User License Agreement (EULA) for HaloLink

HaloLink (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about how data is handled. This document describes how HaloLink manages information, your data protection rights, and the terms under which you use the HaloLink VPN application.

1. Overview

HaloLink is a virtual private network (VPN) application that provides secure, encrypted connections to help users protect their privacy online.

All network processing, encryption, and routing are handled locally on the user’s device or through secure VPN servers — HaloLink does not collect, store, or share personal data from users.

2. Permissions and Local Processing

HaloLink may require limited system permissions for its VPN functionality, such as:

- Network access to establish a VPN connection.

- Foreground service permission for maintaining VPN sessions.

All operations are processed locally on the user’s device.

No personal information, browsing history, DNS requests, or connection metadata is stored, transmitted, or logged by HaloLink.

3. Data Collection and Use

HaloLink does not collect or process any personal data such as:

- Usernames, emails, or contact information

- IP addresses, connection timestamps, or session identifiers

- Browsing content, app activity, or device identifiers

The app functions entirely without requiring personal data input.

4. Third-Party Services and SDKs

While HaloLink itself does not collect user data, it may integrate limited third-party SDKs for the purpose of app stability, attribution, and basic analytics.

- Firebase (Google LLC):

Used for anonymous crash reporting and aggregated app performance metrics. Firebase does not access or store any personally identifiable information (PII).

- Attribution and Analytics Platforms (if used):

These may provide general insights into app usage and install performance. All data is aggregated and anonymized and never linked to individual users.

HaloLink ensures that any third-party service it uses complies with GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable privacy laws.

5. Data Sharing and Selling

HaloLink does not share, sell, or rent user data under any circumstances.

Because no personal data is collected, there is nothing to share or sell.

Users do not need to take any additional steps to opt out — HaloLink by design ensures complete privacy.

6. Data Retention Policy

HaloLink does not retain any personal data.

- No session logs or activity records are stored on our servers.

- Temporary connection data (used internally for active sessions) is deleted immediately after disconnection.

- No persistent identifiers are retained after the session ends.

7. User Rights

In accordance with global privacy laws (such as GDPR and CCPA), you have the following rights regarding your data — even though HaloLink does not collect any personal data:

- Right to Access: You may request confirmation about whether your personal data is processed. (HaloLink does not process personal data.)

- Right to Rectification: No personal data is stored that would require correction.

- Right to Deletion: Uninstalling the app permanently removes all local data related to HaloLink.

- Right to Know if Data Is Shared: HaloLink does not share any personal or usage data.

- Right to Know if Data Is Sold: HaloLink does not and will never sell user data.

- Right to Restrict Processing: Since no data is processed, there is no external processing to restrict.

- Right to Complain: You have the right to file a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe your privacy rights have been violated.

8. Legal Basis for Data Processing

HaloLink processes no personal data.

If aggregated or anonymized analytics are used (e.g., Firebase crash reporting), the processing is based on legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR — specifically, the interest of maintaining and improving app stability and performance without compromising user privacy.

9. Data Protection Officer (DPO)

Name: Alice Nguyen

The DPO is responsible for overseeing HaloLink’s compliance with global privacy laws and handling user inquiries regarding data protection.

10. Security Measures

- All VPN connections are encrypted using industry-standard protocols.

- HaloLink does not retain logs or personally identifiable data.

- Users can disconnect and uninstall the app at any time to terminate use completely.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect app or regulatory changes.

All updates will be posted within the app or on our official website. Continued use of HaloLink after any update signifies your acceptance of the revised policy.
